Capturing the natural beauty of chemistry I find that chemistry is often taught poorly or without a purpose. Because of this, people tend to lose interest and sometimes even start to hate it. In each video that I make, I try to balance theory with purpose. My goal is to capture the natural beauty of chemistry in fun and interesting ways. In terms of education, I have a BSc in Biochemistry, with a minor in pharmacology. However, I've always been a lot more drawn to applied chemistry. So after finishing my degree, I worked as a lab tech in an organic lab, and then as a chemistry grad student. However, I ended up leaving my graduate studies early to focus on this channel. Now, making chemistry videos has become my full-time job!

If you TRY, you can do anything! It's always been my belief that you cannot put information in other people's heads. If you find a way to show them something, they can use their own intelligence to learn. This is my approach to teaching, trying to be both informative while allowing the students to find their own way of learning. I've spent the last 30 years teaching in various capacities. I've taught martial arts to kids and developed a curriculum that was geared specifically to enhance their development. I spent several years working with children suffering from autism and Asperger's -- trying to help them learn to deal with the world around them and to learn from their environment. Finally, it was while helping a child that I was asked to work at the Toronto School Board. While I was there, I helped out with kids who were learning English, and my love of teaching ESL began.

Relevance to tech: Our system analyzes each influencer's username, bio, and posts to confirm that their content is related to the tech niche.
Location Verification: Our system checks for the inclusion of city or country names in profiles, and where necessary, we analyze flags, localized posts and profile bio data to confirm the influencer's location in Canada.
Public Profiles Only: We exclude private profiles, even if they are Canada-based and publish tech-related content. Our system only extracts the public profiles of influencers.
Sufficient Number of Posts: Our system picks the influencer accounts that have a consistent history of posts. It proves that the influencer is active and engaged in their content.
Minimum Follower Count: Our system prioritizes Canada-based tech influencers with a minimum of 5,000 followers.
By analyzing these key statistics, our system automatically identifies the most relevant tech influencers located in Canada, extracts the data, and adds it to our database. The information is then processed, verified, and classified to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Heepsy uses an Al-powered algorithm to identify the most relevant tech YouTube influencers in Canada.
Identifying Influencer Location in Canada:
Profile Location Information: First, we check if the influencers profile explicitly mentions city or country. If the profile contains certain specific cities from Canada, or any other reference to Canada, we automatically mark the profile as Canada-based.
Bio and Content Analysis: If no explicit location is mentioned, our system scans the influencer's bio for any references to Canada, such as cultural symbols, language spoken within Canada, or location- specific hashtags that could indicate the influencer's connection to Canada.
Use of Flags and Emblems: In cases when the influencer doesn't mention a specific city or region, we look for flags in the bio that indicates Canada or any related symbols suggesting origin from Canada.

Identifying tech relevance:
Identifying Key Terms: We begin by searching for specific tech-related terms, such as 'tech' or any other industry terms in an influencer's name or bio.
Expanding with Synonyms and Variations: Our algorithm recognizes related terms within the industry and other tech specializations. We also account for variations, ensuring a comprehensive view of the influencer's expertise.
Multilingual Detection: To ensure a global reach, we use an Al-based multilingual sentence transformer to detect influencers in different languages, so we don't miss out on valuable tech voices around the world.
Strict Category Match: A profile qualifies for tech only when its name or bio contains a tech term, or when its content is classified in the tech category. A single loose word in a caption is not enough.
Ranking the Matches: Profiles that qualify are ranked by follower count: the category match decides who is on the list, and followers decide the order.
Only YouTube profiles that match the tech category and that we have identified as based in Canada are eligible for this list.
Eligible profiles are then ranked by follower count, from highest to lowest, so the most-followed tech YouTube influencers in Canada appear first.
